Tiwanaku Ruins - Full Day private
Bolivia's most important archeological and mystical zone is located near the city of La Paz. Its 30-hectare area contains the remains of a series of Tiwanacu temples.
The most important of these is the Temple of Kalasasaya with the famous Puerta del Sol (Sun gate).
Tiwanaku was settled around year 700 B.C. on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca. The main center developed into a bustling city, constructed with many terraced platform pyramids, courts and urban centers.
The magnificent monuments represent a perfection of building and decorative technique.
Today, Tiwanaku is a small village of Aymara Indians who live in the area close to many of the prehistoric Tiwanaku ruins. The trip by car takes approximately one hour and a half.
(72 Km away from La Paz).
